Twelve years ago, Marcella Echavarria collaborated with Melissa Biggs Bradley on the Indagare Souk, a revolutionary cultural event that brought the best artisans from her travels to New York along with their incredible products and stories.

Wednesday, April 28th 2021, the souk came back virtually with three distinctive visions of India, a selection of heirloom pieces curated by Marcella Echavarria, exclusively for Indagare, including limited edition jackets and fine silks, indigo pieces, hand-sewn clothing and the finest embroidered pieces of cashmere. The criteria was to select artists and pieces where cultural preservation could be appreciated first hand.

Master artisans are the carriers of India´s DNA, they are the ones passing ancient knowledge to the new generations. In their knowledge there is hope for the future and this is why their survival is key to the continuation of the crafts that make India so special.

The three selected brands: Kashmir Loom, Raw Mango and Injiri, share a powerful concept of cultural continuation. In three uniquely different ways, they create heirloom pieces that can be defined as future vintage, a nod to the past with an eye into the future. Tradition that is part of the present and will be part of the future. Many of the pieces that were available for this event, were one of a kind or took years to make.
