Marcella Echavarría is a cultural strategist and brand advisor specializing in the intersection of luxury, sustainability, and craft. With over 25 years of global, on-the-ground experience, she creates bridges between local knowledge and global relevance, helping brands find their soul and tell their story with purpose and elegance.
Marcella’s methodology is rooted in authenticity, regeneration, and emotional resonance. She works at the intersection of culture and commerce—bringing together artisans, designers, and businesses to create branding systems that are not only aesthetically compelling, but deeply meaningful and strategically sound. Her work honors tradition while designing for the future, always balancing narrative, visual identity, and market positioning.
In 2005, she co-founded SURevolution with Donna Karan, one of the first brands to connect the language of high-end design with the handmade. In 2010, she launched her own boutique consulting firm, offering strategic branding and creative direction to clients in fashion, textiles, retail, and experiential travel.
Marcella holds a BA from Brown University, a master’s degree in sustainable development from Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano, and has a background in publishing as editor and contributor to Harper’s Bazaar, HandEye, Selvedge, Vogue, Konfekt, Trend Tablet, and others.
Her consulting portfolio includes global institutions such as the European Union, the United Nations, UNESCO, USAID, IFC, and Technoserve, as well as government agencies and cultural foundations across Latin America, Asia, and Africa. She is also a sought-after speaker on sustainability, branding, and regenerative design.
Marcella’s clients range from independent creators and artisan collectives to heritage brands and boutique hospitality companies—all drawn to her ability to craft identity systems that are both beautiful and deeply rooted.
